Saturday of the Third Week of Easter

 Acts 9:31-42 | Ps. 116:12-17 | John 6:60-69

In today’s readings we see two contrasting types of people.  In acts, we hear about those who believed in Jesus and brought the Word of God to them.  We find Peter, strengthened through the power of the Spirit, curing many and raising Tabitha from the dead.  Notice that Peter prayed before he did so. The Gospel shows how people refused to believe the words of Christ and found it so hard to accept the fact that Jesus would bring them His life through the gift of his own body and blood.  Many of his own disciples left him over this teaching.  When Jesus asks his apostles if they will also leave, Peter responds: “…to whom shall we go?  You have the Words of eternal life.”

Spend time with these passages.  How do you respond to the question: “Do you want to leave me too?”  How will you remain if your answer is no?   What is the depth of your belief?  Allow your heart to be touched by Christ.  Be open to transformation.
