Saturday of the Fifth Week of Easter

Acts 16:1-10 | Ps. 100:1b, 2, 3, 5 | John 15:18-21

Jesus continues His sharing with the apostles. He tells them that they are His friends if they do as He commands. They are friends because Jesus has revealed to them everything that He has heard from the Father. Jesus continues to tell them that they are called to love one another. Jesus’ love is so great that He is willing to lay down His life for His friends. We are Jesus’ friends also because all that He revealed to the apostles has been given to us. What does it mean to be a friend to anyone?

Think of someone whom you consider a friend. Do you have a special relationship with that person? Do you do anything similar to nourish your friendship with Christ? What is one thing you can do to further your relationship with Christ? Decide and make a firm commitment to that action. At the end of each day, and check to see if you accomplished that action. Recommit yourself to doing it tomorrow.
