A third class relic is usually an item, such as a piece of cloth, that has been touched to a first or second class relic, or to the tomb or body of a saint. It serves as a means for the faithful to connect with the saint or holy person and seek their intercession. Third class relics are typically small pieces of cloth or other materials that have been blessed by a priest or bishop.
St Anthony Gift Shop has on display a second-class relic of St John Paul II. After each Mass this weekend (8-9 July 2023), you may come by the gift shop and touch your St Benedict Medal or any other medal or object to the second-class relic and it becomes a third-class relic.
After this weekend the second-class relic will be inside the gift shop for the month of July 2023.
