1 Sm. 18:6-9, 19:1-7 | Ps. 56:2-3, 9-14 | Mk. 3:7-12
The readings today teach us that those who are true to themselves and to God will bring about good. Jonathan, King Saul’s son, recognizes the evil intent of his father’s jealous desire in wanting to kill David. Jonathan is not afraid to speak the truth to Saul and in so doing is able to bring him to change his mind. Jesus’ truth is visible to all who come to Him with open hearts. He is able to cure multitudes who believe in His goodness and desire to be healed. There are so many occasions today where truth is needed. We have the grace through our Baptism to help those with whom we live, work and meet to know the truth. We do not have to do so loudly or boldly. We can and should be gentle in the way we bring about the truth.
Reflect on these readings. How do you tell the truth to those around you? Ask God for the grace to begin to do so.
