Rom. 15:14-21 | Ps. 98:1-4 | Lk. 16:1-8
Both readings talk about stewardship. Paul tells the Romans how he has been called to be a Shepherd of God’s Word and that he entrusts them with maintaining the Word and remaining faithful. As for himself, Paul is aware that he is called to preach the Good News in places where it has not yet been preached. Jesus tells the story of the dishonest steward who is being fired for not doing the best he should have done. When confronted, the steward finds ways to grow in good favor when he is gone.
We are called to be good stewards of the gifts we have been given. How many times do we spread the Good News of Jesus to others? Do we do so with a realization that this is the call we have been given or do we do so because we are required? Perhaps what makes the difference is a realization of how loved we are. Love enables us to do many things.
Take time to realize how much God loves you. Be grateful and accepting. Then give love to all you meet.
