Zec. 8:1-8 | Ps. 102:2, 16-23 | Mt. 18:1-5, 10
The apostles, being quite human, want to know who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Jesus tells them that it is the one who is like a child. come to recognize that we are nothing in comparison to God; and, that without God, we will be nothing. Zechariah tells us that in the days of the Messiah, the streets of Jerusalem will be filled, in days to come, with both the young and the old. He encourages the people to believe this even though some would think it impossible. God can do the impossible. Jesus shows this when He holds up the child and says that this small child is greater than the poorest of the children.
Today, as we celebrate Our Guardian Angels, take time to reflect on the angels and on the way in which you are and are not childlike. What virtues do you need? Ask your guardian angel to intercede with God on your behalf.
