Rm. 6:19-23 | Ps 1:1-4, 6 | Lk 12:49-53
Paul continues to tell us that we have been made for freedom and not for slavery to sin. Jesus tells us this more vividly and with great passion. Jesus has come for a mission and He is consumed by that mission. There is only one thing to do and that is do God’s will. Jesus’s whole purpose is to teach us how much God loves us. Jesus wants nothing more than to have us be on fire with love for God in the same way that He is on fire. Jesus does not find this, and so His heart is sorrowful.
If Jesus were to walk into our city and our church today, what would He find from those who are in His midst? Would Jesus find us on fire with love for Him? Would we be able to recognize Him? We will be able to answer these questions by simply looking at our lives. Do we see Christ in the people who are in our lives? Do we attempt to bring the Good News to those with whom we interact? Are we on fire with love?
Take time to reflect on the Gospel and the questions above. Are you on fire? If not, why not? Ask God for the graces you need today.
