Zec. 8:20-23 | Ps. 87:1-7 | Lk. 9:51-56
Zephaniah tells us that all peoples will be called to worship in Jerusalem. This is the worship of the One True God, Yahweh. All of us are invited to worship this One, True God.
Jesus continues His journey to Jerusalem, and on the way visits a Samaritan village. These people refuse to listen to Jesus because He is on His way to Jerusalem. The Jews and the Samaritans dislike one another because of political and religious reasons. If Jesus is to go to Jerusalem, the Samaritans want nothing to do with Him. This is an instance of discrimination. Because they would not let their ideas be changed, they missed the touch and healing of Jesus. The same was true of the Jews. This happened today. We, likewise, may be guilty of the same misjudgments and by doing so, we may miss out on God’s message to us.
Take time to consider whether or not there are persons, actions, beliefs, that you refuse to be open to hear. How many are there because of lack of openness to God? Take time to bring these to prayer. Ask God for enlightenment.
