Sir. 27:30-28:7 | Ps. 103:1-4, 9-12 | Rom. 14:7-9 | Mt. 18:21-35
Sirach invites us to remember that God is always forgiving and so also should we. We are to forget and overlook other peoples’ faults and failings. Paul reminds us that we live and breathe because God has given us life. We do not come into life or leave this life on our own. Christ died for us so that he might be the Lord of both the living and the dead. The Gospel is the familiar story of the servant who, having been forgiven by his master, turns around and acts in the exact opposite manner with his fellow servant. We must act towards others with the same care and forgiveness with which we have been forgiven.
Take time to look at the way you act towards others. Do you treat others with the same care and compassion with which God treats you? How might you be more loving and forgiving? Ask God to help you to become more so today.
