Thirty-Third Sunday in Ordinary Time
Dn. 12:1-3 | Ps. 16:5, 8-11 | Heb. 10:11-14, 18 | Mk. 13:24-32
We are coming to the close of the church year. All the readings today remind us of the importance of living well so that when we die we will rise to glory with God in Heaven. Daniel tells us that St. Michael the Archangel stands guard at the gate of Heaven. Those who have not lived well will be in shame, and those who have lived well will shine as the stars of Heaven. Paul reminds the Hebrews that Jesus came, and through His sacrifice on the Cross, brought about freedom from our sins. Jesus talks about the end of time and calls us to live as we should so that when the end comes, we will be ready. We have been given the way. Jesus’ life is a blueprint for us to follow. If we are sincere and try to live the life of Christ, the life of love each day, we will enjoy God for all eternity. Christ calls us to belong to Him. Doing so, we cannot fail.
Listen to the words of Jesus. Reflect on the way you live the life of Christ. Allow Christ’s love to touch your heart. Ask for the help you need to live this day with love, joy and compassion for all.
