Rev. 1:1-4, 2:1-5 | Ps. 1:1-4, 6 | Lk. 18:35-43
The gift of today’s Gospel is that of faith. The blind man has heard over and over about this wonderful man who has healed so many people. When he realizes that Jesus is coming, he calls out to him, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” This blind man is so filled with faith and desire that he confesses his guilt and asks for mercy. Jesus recognizes the depth of this man’s faith. When he asks him what he wants, the blind man says without hesitation: “Lord, let me see again.” Jesus heals him because of his great faith. Jesus wants to heal us and set us free from anything that keeps us blind. The question is: “Do we want to see?”
Stop for a few moments to consider in what areas you may be blind. Do you have any prejudices, grudges, etc.? So you want to be free from these? Go to Christ and ask to be healed. Christ will heal us if we truly want to be. If you aren’t ready, ask for the grace to want to be healed.
