Feast of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary
Readings: Rev. 11:4-12 | Ps. 144:1-2, 9-10 | Lk. 20:27-40
The Sadducees are on the scene again to try to trick Jesus and have Him say something that they can use against Him. Jesus knows what is at the heart of their questioning. When asked whose wife the woman would be, Jesus told them that heaven was not about marriage. Rather heaven is about loving God and loving others. If they, and we, understand this, we would not be concerned about trivial things. Jesus is moving us to have a greater motive for living and that is the motivation of love of God. When we love God above all things, then that love extends to all others and our participation in that love spreads beyond our imaginings. “God is not God of the dead but of the living.” We will all be transformed by loving God above all things.
Spend time with God today. Ask God to teach you about the love of God. Be open and you will find many ways to love others that requires little effort on your behalf. Life will be transformed.
