First Sunday of Advent

Jer. 33:14-16 | Ps. 25:4-5, 8-9, 10, 14 | 1 Thes. 3:12-4:2 | Lk.21:25-28, 34-36

Happy New Year!  This is the beginning of the Church Year so it is a good day to make a resolution.  Jeremiah reminds us that God is our righteousness and that a day is coming when the Son of Man will be among us.  Paul tells the Thessalonians that they should continue to live in righteousness and to work so that they may increase in the love and courage of God especially in the love of God so that their love for one another will likewise increase.  Paul encourages the people to grow in holiness so that they may learn how to act and grow more and more in love with God and with neighbor.  The Gospel also picks up on looking at the signs of nature to know what might occur and likewise to become so adept at following the signs of God’s work as to be able to know what is right and what is selfish.  Christ continues to promise us eternal happiness if we follow all that He has shown us how to do.

Take time today to make a resolution.  Perhaps that could be spending five minutes each day praying with scripture.  Doing so will begin to change your life.  You will grow in relationship to Christ.
