Feast of St. Callistus I, Pope

Readings: Gal. 5:18-25 | Ps. 1:1-4, 6 | Lk. 11:42-46

Jesus does not waste any words when speaking to the people. He reminds them that they are called to bring God’s love to all people and not lay heavy burdens on those who are already burdened. Paul continues this message when he tells us that if we live by the Spirit then we are able to be free. The way we know people are living by the Spirit is by the fruit of their lives. If they are kind, loving, peaceful, mild, etc., then they live according to God’s Spirit. We all know people who bring peace and joy wherever they go. We also know those who create havoc and misery. We are invited to be led by the Spirit today.

Pause to reflect on the different effects that different people have on you. What spirit do you bring to a room? Is it the Spirit of God?
