Twenty Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time

Hb 1:2-3, 2:2-4 | Ps. 95:1-2, 6-7, 8-9 | 2 Tim 1:6-8. 13-14 | 1 Pet 1:25

Praise is the gift of today’s readings.  Job stands before God and tells Him that he realizes how insignificant he is in relationship to God.  He realizes that he can do nothing outside of the goodness and greatness of God. Matthew gives us a hint behind this faithfulness.  Jesus tells us that the angels who guard us are always before God.  They are the ones who constantly intercede for us and help us remain faithful to God.  Jesus also invites us to realize that we need to have the quality of trust as children have.  This is the quality we see exhibited by Job.  We are called to practice the same trust in God.  It is easy to trust when things are going smoothly.  Yet when things are difficult, God asks us to maintain trust in God.

Consider your trust in God.  Look back on your life.  When has it been easy to do so?  When has it been hard?  Has God ever failed you?  Remember that God is a God of love and would never leave us alone.  Life might have different twists and turns than those we hoped for but God never leaves us alone.  Take time today to allow God’s love to touch you deeply.  Ask God to remain faithful and always trust in God’s love.
