Friday of the Thirtieth Week in Ordinary Time

Rom. 9:1-5 | Ps. 147:12-15, 19-20 | Lk. 14:1-6

Have you ever asked a question and found that no one would answer it because to do so, would be to incriminate oneself?  That is what is taking place in today’s Gospel.  Jesus is at one of the Pharisee’s home and comes upon someone who is suffering.  Jesus’s compassion comes into play.  He knows what he is going to do.  He also knows that He is being watched carefully.  Thus Jesus asks the question.  The Pharisees refuse to answer because they are in the wrong.  Jesus, without hesitation heals the sick man.

This is a case of having compassion.  When one is filled with compassion, one knows what to do without hesitation and without regard for the opinions of others.  What is the status of your compassion?  Take time to examine how you respond to the needs of others.  Do you need to grow in compassion?  Ask God to help you to do so.
