Twenty Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time
Gen. 2:18-24 | Ps. 128:1-6 | Heb. 2:9-11 | Mk. 10:2-16
Genesis reminds us of the creation of man and woman. Hebrews speaks about the destiny of Jesus to death on the Cross. Paul reminds us that Jesus did not reject the cross but rather embraced it. The Gospel reminds us of the dignity of marriage and the dignity of children. Spending time in reflection on these readings, I realize that the theme of all of them is the wonder of God’s creation and dignity of all people. We are called to recognize that each person is a unique creation of God and as such we should stand in awe of each person as a reflection of God. If we do so, we will treat each person with love and dignity. Thus we would not harm anyone, child, adult, married, unmarried.
Take time to reflect on your own creation and dignity and reflection of God. Ask God for the grace to realize this gift. Thank God for these great gifts. Now ask God to help you to see all people with God’s vision. Respond with this same gratitude and love for all of these people. Find ways to live out of this love today.
