Twenty-Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Ex. 32:7-11, 13-14 | Ps. 51:3-4, 12-13, 17, 19 | 1Tim. 1:12-17 | Lk. 15:1-32

All the readings show us the great love God has for us despite our sinfulness.  The Israelites worship a golden cow, and God is angered.  Moses pleads on their behalf, and God forgives them.  The author of Timothy admits his own sinfulness and the great love of God who forgave him.  The Gospel shows us God’s love through the parables that Jesus tells in order to let us know without a shadow of a doubt that God’s love for us is greater than anything we could ever imagine.  God desires all people to come to Him.  No matter what sins we commit, God will forgive us.  What we must remember is that Jesus comes to heal us.

Choose one of the readings with which to pray.  Read it slowly.  Allow yourself to imagine being in the scene of the reading.  Experience God’s forgiveness.  Return God’s love by accepting God’s forgiveness.
