Paul tells the Colossians that he has been praying for them that they will come to full knowledge of Christ with wisdom to know what to do. Having received these gifts, they will be able to go out and preach the Good News to others. This is a perfect backdrop for the Gospel. Jesus is teaching the people and gets into Peter’s boat in order to be able to continue and to teach Peter as well. After Jesus finishes His lesson, He asks Peter to move out into deep water. When Peter makes a great catch, He is converted and Jesus invites Peter, James and John to follow Him. Thus the knowledge that Jesus gives them enables them to spread the Good News to others.
Each day, Jesus invites us to listen to His Word, to accept this Word and turn around to lead others to Him. Once again, Jesus invites us to be open to the small miracles that take place in our lives and to respond. Doing so, we will bring others to know, love, and follow Him. Take time to ask Jesus to help you to be open to His gifts and graces. Give thanks for all you receive.
