Feast of Sts. Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael

Readings: Dn. 7:9-10, 13-14 | Ps. 138:1-5 | Jn. 1:47-510

The readings from Daniel and John relate the glory that belongs to God. They refer to the angels giving homage to God. Today we celebrate the feast of Sts. Michael, Gabriel and Raphael who are mentioned in various parts of the Bible. They are the spirits who are constantly before God giving honor and praise to him. Jesus calls Nathanael to him and tells him that he will see the angels ascending and descending on the Son of Man. We do not know what an angel looks like. We have some artistic conceptions of angels but who really knows what they look like? What is important is that we know of their existence and their presence before God. We know that they provide assistance for us and help us to make the right decisions and take the right actions.

Take time to give thanks to God for the assistance of the angels in your life. Ask God for the graces you need to be attentive to God’s Word and to live your life as you should so that your life will give testimony to the greatness and wisdom of God.
