Feast of St. Peter Claver
Col. 3:12-17 | Ps. 150:1-6 | Lk. 6:27-38
Jesus continues to call us to live a life full of love and compassion for others. Paul’s letter repeats this message. What is important is that we first hear the words of God’s love for us, that is, for each of us, personally and uniquely. Hearing these words, we are then called to accept God’s love no matter what we have done in the past. God’s great concern is for each of us. When we experience love, we are able to reciprocate that love to others. Thus Jesus calls us to experience His love. To do so, we must put aside all questions, all fears and concerns and gift ourselves back to God.
This may seem simple or difficult. What is important is that we respond. God’s love is free and without conditions. Once we accept God’s love, we will come to new depth of love and we will go out to others in love and compassion.
Contemplate God’s great love for you. Accept that love without questions. Respond to God’s love.
